Bullet was based on a bit of lettering drawn by Ken Barber for the House Industries Pop Art package. House got so many calls from people looking to buy the “Pop Art font” that they had no choice but to actually make it, so they turned to me. Judging by how widely used Bullet has become, it has been a huge success. It has become a cultural shorthand for signifying “extreme,” speed and aggression. Bullet hasn’t just entered the vernacular, it has become a vernacular. That is about all I could have ever hoped for this typeface to achieve.
