Upstatement tasked me with designing a new logotype for the incomparable Brené Brown. It needed to feel like “a Brooks Brothers jacket with jeans and boots” and, as a point of reference, “Brené loves Matthew Carter’s typeface Georgia.” I drew letterforms loosely based on Georgia, and it’s sibling Miller while also throwing in lots of subtle moves to reflect Brené’s spirit. The resulting logotype is graceful, direct, and timeless, just like Brené.
