Not long after the major National Geographic redesign launched, Emmet Smith reached out and asked if it would be possible to make a rounded version of Marden for an upcoming special issue. Yep, but I did some stuff to make it more than just Marden with rounded corners. I fully rounded the terminals, made the existing curves stiffer, simplified some shapes and treated the confluence of strokes in characters like N differently. These changes pushed the typeface away from being a simple derivative of Marden to being a unique relative. This relationship allowed them to be used together to create interesting visual tension.
