Departures

Rachel Gogel and Sean Wong brought me in to work with them and rest of the team at Giant Spoon on the logotype for the relaunch of Departures. Rachel and Sean had a wide range of references for me to look at, everything from wax seals to passport stamps to old signs. Along the way I also spent some quality time with some beloved old calligraphy books and drew a lot of inspiration from Lucas Sharp’s lovely Ogg and Jonathan Hoefler’s inimitable Requiem. I was also scared out of my mind while drawing this thing because I had never drawn anything this organic before.
