I designed Runway to be a part of the House Movements type collection that was released along with the first House Industries monograph. The primary idea of that collection was that we weren’t sure if people would buy the book so we sweetened the deal with “5 Free Fonts!” The secondary idea of that collection was to summarize the various typographic “movements” that House Industries had experienced in their first 10 years of business. Runway is an ode to House’s sans serif obsession of the early 2000s. The letterforms themselves were inspired by a classic sign in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
